How to Dry Herbs - the simple way!

The bright flavor of basil, the woody undertone of rosemary, the sophisticated zing of thyme - these are all part of the joys and benefits of growing an herb garden!

As the weather gets colder and the plants are winding down for the year, or when the garden is overflowing with goodness in mid-summer, one of the great ways to preserve these flavors is by drying the herbs.

There are a lot of methods for drying herbs, but I love this one for its absolute simplicity.

1) Pick and rinse your herbs

2) Lay the herbs on a baking rack, leaving space between them for air to circulate

3) Store the drying herbs in a sunny, dry location for several days

Depending on the humidity levels, the herbs will be dry in around a week's time.  Once they're completely dry, transfer them to an airtight container - like an upcycled jar.

Before using the herbs for cooking, crumble them a bit between your fingers.  This awakens the flavors and makes for nice little pieces of seasoning.

This method uses no energy so is perfectly "green", and is of course entirely natural and without artificial preservatives!  The dry herbs are perfect for seasoning all year round, and also make great gifts.

ENJOY!

  1. Of course, I can do it normally, but I'm too lazy, so for this I have this site https://rankmywriter.com/justdomyhomework-review, where they do any written work, do the best professionals, and at a low price and most importantly, competently, of high quality
