1. For the Busy Mom:

Another of my very favorites this year is this charming cookbook written by a charismatic author living in a farmhouse in the French countryside. She shares her tales of discovering local markets, new ingredients, and how she turns them into beautiful rustic dishes for the family. A heartwarming cookbook that makes you want to jump on the next flight to France and find a rural farmhouse of your own.

This book is filled with gorgeous photos of food that make you want to jump right into the kitchen and get cooking. One of my favorite recipes of the year comes from this book - Homemade Ricotta!

5. For the Holistic Health fan:
This book is full of flavorful recipes, emphasizing lots of tasty herbs and spices that have super-benefits for the mind and body. It has an introduction to ingredients and the surprising health benefits they have, followed by a guide of great recipes featuring all those flavors.

The Kitchn is a fun cookbook that showcases real people in real kitchens across the country, together with fun, globally-inspired recipes that are easy to make. Check out my full review here.
7. For the Foodie
My Paris KitchenMy Paris Kitchen is a fantastic trip to Paris, visually and through the author's stories. Each recipe reminds me of a favorite bistro meal, or a dinner party with friends in Paris - and they're delicious! Here is a sample recipe to get a feel for the book, which is one of my very favorites this year.
8. For the Gourmet
Twenty Dinners is a guide to preparing twenty elaborate meals, start to finish. Each menu is paired from appetizer, to main dishes, and through to dessert. The recipes are, on a whole, a bit complex, but the results are terrific if you have the time and patience to put them together. A great guide for someone who loves being in the kitchen!
