Heirloom Milk for Happier Tummies

We love dairy products at our house.  Over our cereal at breakfast, warmed with chocolate for a cold-weather treat, as an ingredient in dinner or dessert...we use it all day long.
I'd not realized that milk is a 'luxury' that a lot of people aren't able to enjoy until a lactose-intolerant friend told me about her discomforts when drinking milk.  Such a classic ingredient that is a large part of my diet, which she simply can't enjoy...and its a discomfort that 1 in 4 Americans say they also feel.

This post was sponsored by a2 Milk® as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review.

I was fascinated to learn that there are 2 proteins in typical cow milk - one is called A1 and the other is called...you guessed right...A2.  Back in 'old world' Europe, cows only had A2 proteins in their milk.  As the cows were brought to America and adapted to the local climate and conditions, many of the herds developed an A1 protein as well.  The A1 protein is the one responsible for the sore tummies associated with drinking milk, officially known as "post-dairy digestive discomfort", and is in all US cow milk.

Farm-fresh milk from heirloom cows in upstate New York that didn't develop the troublesome A1 protein, a2 Milk® is a natural alternative that helps prevent milk discomfort.  Instead of adding special drops, taking pills, or cutting out milk altogether, a2 Milk® naturally cuts out the A1 protein - making milk drinkable again.  a2 Milk® has about 6x more calcium as soy drinks, 8x more protein than almond drinks, and about 6x the potassium of rice drinks.

As a milk lover, I've been asked to become an ambassador for a2 Milk®.  I've been learning about their old-fashioned, yet innovative, milk and enjoying it in our kitchen.  I'll be sharing some of my experiences and recipes as we continue to discover more about a2!
